Where to look for a job in Switzerland: platforms, compared honestly
Updated 4 October 2026
No platform publishes everything. Two or three chosen channels plus a serious triage of ads beat fifteen vague alerts.
There is no single “job site” for Switzerland
The ads market is fragmented. The public service runs through Job-Room on arbeit.swiss. The private portals jobs.ch and jobup.ch belong to the same group, JobCloud: jobs.ch is the national multilingual portal, especially useful for German-speaking Switzerland; jobup.ch is strong in French-speaking Switzerland.
Beside them sit aggregators (Indeed, Careerjet), networks such as LinkedIn, and employer career pages. A federal administration, a canton, a hospital or a large company sometimes publishes only on its own recruiting tool. If you only watch the portals, you miss those roles.
Channels, role by role
None of these channels replaces the others. Each covers part of the market.
- Job-Room: public service, linked to regional employment offices. SECO presents it as Switzerland’s largest job platform. That is its official wording, not the result of a private study. Some ads subject to the advertising obligation go through it.
- jobs.ch: private national portal, in several languages. Useful when you target German-speaking Switzerland, or an employer that posts there in French.
- jobup.ch: private portal strong in French-speaking Switzerland. Same ecosystem as jobs.ch: one ad can appear on both sides.
- LinkedIn: network, and roles that are not republished elsewhere. The profile must stay aligned with the CV: same employers, same dates, same tools.
- Indeed and Careerjet: many ads, and duplicates. Check the real employer and the date, not only the title shown by the aggregator.
- Employer career pages: sometimes the only source, sometimes the most up to date. If an ad interests you, also open the employer’s site.
How many channels to follow, in practice
Two or three channels, with precise alerts (occupation, canton, activity rate), beat fifteen vague alerts. The same ad often circulates on several distributors. Seeing it twice is not two roles.
Before you prepare an application, triage the ad. The method is in the guide How to tell if a Swiss job ad is worth applying for?: real requirements, location, what you can already prove. A quick no avoids rewriting the same CV everywhere.
What My Swiss Career changes — and what it does not — in your search
My Swiss Career is not another job board. You find the ad elsewhere. The tool helps you evaluate it from your CV and profile.
No search data is sold. This guide is not paid by the platforms named. There is no sponsored ranking: triage follows the role, not who distributes the ad.
